In March of 1882, a small group of Swedish immigrants from Roseland, IL, sensed God's leading to begin a new church. They called their new ministry The Swedish Evangelical Mission. In 1935 this name was changed to The Roseland Evangelical Mission Church

For nearly 85 years, the church in Roseland had a dynamic impact in helping people find faith in Jesus Christ. In Roseland, hundreds of men, women and children came to Christ and became actively involved in the work of our church.

Throughout the world thousands were touched by the spiritual outreach of our ministry.

Sensing God's leading for a new direction for our church family, in 1966 the church moved to South Holland, IL, and became affiliated with The Evangelical Free Church of America denomination. Along with our move to a new location we adopted the name The Village Evangelical Free Church of South Holland.

For 40 years Village Church has had a continuing spiritual impact in our community. With God's help we have enjoyed four decades of spiritual influence in people's lives in the South Holland area. We have also had the privilege of starting a new church that is reaching its community of New Lennox.

In 2007, God gave us a new sense of vision
and direction for our future. In order to adjust to the changing needs of our congregation and community, we relocated our ministry to Dyer, Indiana.  We had our dedication service in March of 2008.  Our short time in the Dyer/St. John area has been exciting and Village Church looks forward to the amazing opportunity of reaching a new generation with the good news of Jesus Christ.
