Village Construction Team Works with Samaritan's Purse
In March a team of men packed up their tools and headed to Kiln, MS, to be part of a construction project with Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan's Purse is a non-denominational Christian relief and evangelism ministry helping to provide physical and spiritual aid to hurting people worldwide. Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, is the current President and CEO of this excellent global ministry. Our Village Team included (from the bottom to the top of the stairs): Jim Fikar, Glenn Bouck, Joe Martynowicz, Bob Seeman, Dan Hofstra, Alan Tubbs, Bill Evers, Jeff Groff and Jerry Novak.
Village Church became participants in Samaritan's Purse two years ago when Bob Seeman and the owners of MiJack Products wanted to help in the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina through Samaritan's Purse. Since then, MiJack Products has sponsored four mission trips down to the Gulf region to assist in the relief effort there. Once again, MiJack made this trip possible by offering free use of their 15 passenger van and covering all costs for the gasoline for the two vehicles that were used for this project.
Throughout the 4 workdays, the Village Team did a variety of jobs from drywalling to deck and foundation work ... electrical to outdoor siding. Each man using and developing skills that God used as a gift for people who needed help and encouragement from the Lord.
True to the philosophy of Samaritan's Purse, the men rebuilt both houses and people's lives. One particular morning, a lady stopped by the work site. Her house had been severely damaged by Katrina and Samaritan's Purse helped rebuild her home earlier that year. The woman said that she just wanted to stop and say "thank you" to the workers. The project manager assured her that it was a privilege to help her and that each man had come to help in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He also immediately called a halt to the work that the crews were doing so that all could gather to pray with the woman and for her.
Village Church is honored to participate in the ministry of Samaritan's Purse and looks forward to future opportunities to serve those in need. If you would like to view a Powerpoint and music presentation of the work project in Kiln, click here.

Village Church Celebrates
Our New Building Dedication
Despite the sub-zero temperatures and a recent blizzard, more than 500 people attended the opening Dedication Service as Village Church began its new ministry in Dyer on Sunday, February 3rd.
Guest speakers for the event included Evangelical Free Church Regional Directors Bill Reed and Ivan York. Along with our own praise band, renowned pianist Huntley Brown also participated in our celebration. At one point in the service, Huntley Brown provided a musical background to the video overview of the entire building program. That video presentation can be seen by clicking here. A collection of pictorial highlights from the morning can also be seen by clicking here.
For more than 125 years Village Church has enjoyed a rich heritage of faith; and as a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America, we're also part of a great association of faith. As we move from South Holland to Dyer, we're looking forward to sharing that faith with a new community at this beautiful location that God has given us.
Thank you to all who have helped make this move possible and to all who have encouraged us in the process of our relocation. Now, Village Church is committed to being a source of great spiritual encouragement to all who attend as we fulfill our mission of helping people find their way back to God and bringing them to maturity in Christ.
For more information about the ministry of Village Church, browse our website or give us a call. We'd be glad to share more about our family ministry, our variety of worship styles, or how you can be part of something great that God is doing in our community.
